The 23rd Annual Korean Language Writing Contest for Foreign Nationals
1. Purpose
To celebrate the 568th anniversary of Hangul, this writing contest will be held in order to:
① encourage foreign students of Korean to understand the intention of King Sejong, the creator of the Korean Alphabet
② further motivate Korean language learners to master the Korean language
③ promote relations between Yonsei University Korean Language Institute and other Korean language education organizations, and provide more opportunities for communication and exchange between students of respective institutions
2. Time and Place
① Time: Mon. Oct. 6, 2014 from 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.
② Place: Yonsei University's Outdoor amphitheater.
3. Contest Division
① Poetry
② Essay
4. Qualifications
① Foreign nationals over 16 years of age who have resided in Korea for no longer than eight years (counting from the first day of the present residence period, regardless of previous residence period)
② Overseas Koreans over 16 years of age who have resided in Korea no longer than five years (people born in Korea are required to have lived abroad for more than twelve years)
③ Participants must not have received any Korean literary award for the past three years

3 winners - Each receives a certificate of merit, a trophy, and ₩500,000 prize money

4 winners - Each receives a certificate of merit, a trophy, and ₩300,000 prize money
④ Bronze Prize
10 winners - Each receives a certificate of merit, a trophy, and prize
⑤ Honorary Prize
20 winners - Each receives a certificate of merit and prize
